Who can participate in the Walk?
Everyone is welcome! An adult must accompany children under the age of 18 at all times.
 
What animals are allowed to participate in this event?
Only canines and humans are allowed to participate. Cat lovers are equally welcome!
 
Where does the Walk start and end?
The walk is approximately 1.56 miles and you may walk/run at your own pace as this is not timed. It starts and ends at Animal Ark, 2600 Industrial Court Hastings, MN 55033. The route will be clearly mapped and have multiple volunteers to provide guidance during the walk.

What does my registration include?
Breakfast, 2017 Animal Ark 3k Walk t-shirt & custom bracelet. *Breakfast begins at 8:30 am and includes fruit, water, lemonade, coffee & granola bars.
 
Do I have to pre-register before the Walk?
We would prefer that you pre-register so that we know how many participants to expect, order the correct size of your t-shirt and it also makes the check in process faster for you. BONUS: There is a Early Bird registration special ticket price if you register on or before April 1st, 2018.
 
When can I check in?
Registration check in begins at 8:30am. Early bird registration participants (those who register before April 1st) can check in at 9:00 am. Those who register after April 1st or complete same day registration participants must register by 9:30am.
 
Where do I park?
Free parking will be provided and will be clearly marked with signs along Industrial Court.
 
Where do I check in?
There will be a designated blue top canopy tent located outside of the Animal Ark shelter with a “Registration” sign to check in for the event.
 
What do I bring with me to the Walk?
  • Completed Release & Waiver form
  • All cash & check donations along with completed 2018 Animal Ark 3K Walk Pledge Tracking Form (s)
  • Non-retractable dog leash, no longer than 6 feet
  • Proof of vaccinations for your dog
  • Comfortable clothing & walking shoes
  • Cash (not all vendors take credit cards)

What items should I NOT bring with me to the Walk?
Please do not bring skateboards, roller blades, scooters, razors, bicycles or skates.
 
Will food and beverage options be available during and after the walk?
  • At the halfway point of the walk, there will be free water & lemonade.
  • After the walk, there will be a variety of food & beverages available for purchase along with complimentary beer & wine sampling for adults 21 years and older.
  • Water stations will be provided for your dog throughout the event.
 
Rules for All Dogs Attending the Walk:
  • Each dog must be accompanied by an owner 18 years and older. Any owner under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • All dogs must be at least 6 months of age & have good temperament; do NOT bring dogs known to be aggressive with other animals.
  • Dogs displaying behavior that may pose a danger to others may be asked to leave the event.
  • All dogs must be spayed & neutered. 
  • All dogs must wear a collar and be on a leash at all times.
Participants are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Waste bags will be available for easy cleanup.
 
What current vaccinations does my dog need to attend the walk?
Distemper, Parvo, Bordetella & Rabies. Please present proof of these vaccinations when you check in.
 
How many dogs can I walk?
Only two dogs PER walker is allowed. So, if you have 4 dogs and 2 walkers, that is fine.

Can I participate without a dog?
Absolutely! Plenty of attendees do not own pets or may have pets that prefer to stay home.
 
Will the event still go on if it rains?

Yes! Come prepared for rain or shine. In the event of a storm or unsafe weather conditions, the event will be cancelled. Sorry, we will not offer refunds.
 
Is there information available to help me ask & receive pledges?
Yes! Please visit the Pledge tab where you will find Fundraising Tips & Ideas, 2017 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form and a sample letter to edit and email/mail to friends, family and/or local businesses.
 
Will there be prizes awarded for top pledge fundraising participants?
Yes! Two grand prizes will be awarded to the Top Youth Pledge Fundraiser & the Top Individual Pledge Fundraiser.
 
I can’t attend the event, but would like to support the 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk. What can I do?
  • Send a check payable to Friends of Animal Adoptions, Inc. with your completed 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form to:
    P.O. BOX 600745
    Saint Paul, MN 55106
  • Pay via PayPal on our registration website (be sure to note in the “Write a note- Optional” or “Comment” section that it is a donation to 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk). Mail in your completed 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form to the PO Box for Animal Ark above.

​What do I do with donations I receive after the walk event has ended?
Please directly drop off donations to the shelter or mail with a completed 2017 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form to the address above.
 
How will my donors get tax receipts for their donations?
All donors who include their full name, mailing address and donation amount on the 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form will receive a Thank You letter from Animal Ark and a tax deductible donation form. It’s important to use our 2018 Animal Ark 3k Walk Pledge Tracking Form to collect this information so we can properly acknowledge the donors.
